Serie de TV (1984-1987). Hace mucho tiempo, en un lejano planeta llamado Cybertron, se desató una cruenta guerra civil entre robos gigantes capaces de transformarse en vehículos, animales y todo tipo de objetos: los Transformers. En el transcurso de una batalla especial, una nave abordada se estrelló en la Tierra. Cuatro millones de años después, la actividad geológica ha despertado a las dos facciones en guerra. Por un lado, los Decepticons, que pretenden arrebatar a la Tierra sus recursos energéticos para regresar a su mundo, y por el otro, los Autobots, que tratan de proteger a la raza humana. Así comienza la batalla sin fin entre Optimus Prime y Megatron con el destino de la Tierra en juego...
